As Your Baby Grows

As your baby grows

As babies grow they become more efficient at feeding so generally breastfeeds start to become a bit quicker. Some babies are quick feeders and some babies are not. You’ll also notice that your confidence increases and you’ll be recognising feeding cues and understanding what your baby is telling you and knowing what they do and don’t like.

Having realistic expectations about sleep, meeting baby’s needs, frequent feeds, length of feed and just how dependent upon you this new person is for everything is crucial to enjoying your baby and having a confident (even if hard) few weeks or months.

Whatever age your baby is or stage your baby is going through, if they are having plenty of wet and dirty nappies, are content & alert between feeds and gaining weight then brilliant and well done.

If, at any stage, you’re concerned regarding your baby’s feeding please get in touch with anyone within your support network (Health Visitor/Midwife/Family Nurse/ Breastfeeding Peer Supporter) for support and reassurance.
