Breastfeeding Peer Supporters

Our Breastfeeding Peer Support volunteers are mothers who have breastfed their own child(ren) and have completed training in order to support you with evidence based information and empathy. The support you receive will be non judgmental – they are here to support you in your personal goal.

They are compliant with NHS Grampian confidentiality and information security procedures.

You can be allocated a breastfeeding peer supporter antenatally for support via email and in the community or you can join your local breastfeeding support group on Facebook.

If you would like a Breastfeeding Peer Supporter to contact you, please e-mail gram.breastfeedingsupport@nhs.scot  or ask your health professional to refer you. You can do this at any time before or after your baby is born.

Our Breastfeeding Peer Support Volunteers can not visit you at home however they can meet you in your local community.

Some of our Breastfeeding Peer Supporters are also able to use our secure NHS NearMe video calling application to provide virtual video support so you do not need to leave your home. You can follow our facebook page Breastfeed Grampian and join our postnatal support group – Breastfeed Grampian Support Group – once your baby has arrived.

Here is a picture of some of our volunteers – we have over 50 who are ready and waiting to support you!
